End to End College Counseling Services

Patient. Expert. Personal. That’s what you want in a college counselor. And that’s what PEP provides. Cliff Rachlin, PEP’s CEO, will work with you to design the appropriate set of customized college counseling services to meet your child’s needs. PEP can help end-to-end or with just one piece of the process. As a high school teacher, Cliff has seen first-hand how stressful the college application process can be for students and parents. He will help to set up a schedule from the very beginning of the process to help with time management. In addition, we limit the number of clients served at one time to allow students regular access to Cliff and his help.

    Setting up for Success

As early as sophomore or junior year of high school, Cliff can help your child build a list of courses that highlight their academic abilities and decide which extracurriculars they want to focus on. In junior year or in the summer before senior year, Cliff can help your child begin their essays in which they present the qualities which make them an attractive candidate.

    Making the Perfect List

Coming up with a list of schools to apply to can be quite challenging. At the same time, your child does not need to apply to 20 or 30 schools. Looking at transcripts, student resume, and interests, and using our formula, Cliff can help build a realistic list that includes both dream schools and safe bets, anywhere between 8 and 12 schools to apply to.

    Crafting Winning Essays

For many students, essays are the most challenging part of applications. Cliff is an expert in essay writing and in guiding students through the process. From choosing questions, writing drafts, and final essays, he will guide your child to writing the strongest essay possible.

    Selecting the Lucky School

You have your acceptances. What now? We will help students and parents to look at all the pros and cons, based on their individual needs and intentions, of each school. We help to evaluate the best school based on possible program of study, location, and cost to help narrow the decision and plan visits if desired.

Referrals for Test Preparation and Financial Planning (FAFSA)

Test preparation

Many schools are test-optional, but in some cases, it can be valuable to take the SAT or ACT. In addition, many scholarships require scores. We do not refer to a specific test prep company but can use data to help guide you to what kind of test prep—if any—may be needed.

Financial Planning (FAFSA)

We can refer to a tax and financial planning CPA firm for financial planning and FAFSA questions. The first visit with the firm, with our referral, is free.
